Good news on our journey towards stronger climate action: SIMONA has already achieved its SBTi-validated target for reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. By 2030, we aimed to cut these emissions by 42% compared with the base year 2022. With a reduction of 42.1%, we have met this target ahead of schedule – and we are continuing consistently on our path.
As a globally active company, we are committed to steadily aligning our own business activities more closely with climate-conscious practices and further reducing our environmental footprint.
Taking science-based action
SIMONA joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2024. At the beginning of 2025, our climate targets were officially validated, confirming that our reduction targets are aligned with the latest climate science and support global efforts to limit the rise in global temperatures.
A Systematic Approach to Greater Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
This progress is the result of numerous targeted initiatives at our sites around the world. These include expanding renewable energy, investing in photovoltaics, purchasing green electricity and implementing measures to improve energy efficiency in our production processes.
At our sites in Germany and the Czech Republic, energy management systems certified in accordance with ISO 50001 help us systematically analyze energy consumption and identify further potential for improvement. In addition, environmental management systems certified in accordance with ISO 14001 at our sites in Germany, the Czech Republic and Türkiye, as well as at SIMONA Boltaron in the USA, provide a structured framework for continuously monitoring and reducing environmental impacts.
In 2025, we further increased the share of renewable energy across the SIMONA Group. Today, 23% of our global energy consumption comes from renewable sources. Our sites in Norway and Türkiye run entirely on certified green electricity, while Electroplast in the Netherlands also uses 100% renewable electricity. Since 2023, our German sites have been sourcing electricity from wind farms through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), thereby supporting a more decentralized and sustainable energy supply.
Our photovoltaic initiatives also make an important contribution. At our sites in China, at SIMONA America Industries in the USA and in the Czech Republic, we use photovoltaics to generate and consume renewable energy directly on site.
Progress happens when everyone plays their part
Achieving our Scope 1 and Scope 2 targets ahead of schedule sends a strong message for SIMONA: change is possible when strategy, technology and commitment work hand in hand. At the same time, we see this achievement not as the end of the journey, but as motivation to keep moving forward.
We also remain firmly focused on our long-term targets for Scope 3 emissions, as they are a key lever for meaningful change. Reducing these emissions, however, is significantly more complex and requires us to consistently rethink circular economy approaches. This is a goal we can only achieve together with our partners along the entire value chain. That is why we closely monitor market developments, maintain an ongoing dialogue with our suppliers and continuously expand our portfolio of more sustainable products. At the same time, we are advancing circular economy concepts to use resources more efficiently, close material loops and reduce emissions in the long term.
Transparency, collaboration and innovation are essential to successfully shaping this transformation. Despite the challenges ahead, we remain committed to our ambition and will continue to pursue our path with determination.
